New Foods/Weight Check

We knew Link wasn't gaining like he should but he had finally gained something so I wasn't too concerned about his weight check last Thursday. Well, even with the 10 ounces he had gained in the month it wasn't enough to keep him on the charts. Coralee was small at this age but she was never below the charts so this is new territory for us. Dr. Hargrave recommended seeing a Pediatric Gastroenterologist. He also said to increase his solids and offer a bottle after his nursing sessions. In preparation for the appointment, Link had his first big blood draw. We had to go to a lab next to the Dell Children's hospital for that since they were testing so many different things and needed so much blood. Thankfully that was a good experience. He just didn't like his arm being held down. In the end, his bloodwork came back fine other than his iron levels being low. Still, we go tomorrow for our appointment with the GI doctor. I'm a little anxious to hear what she has to say.
He's done fine adding solids. We've tried nice, fatty Yo Baby yogurt once a day. He seems to really like that. I just made the mistake of giving him too much at that one feeding (imagine that 1/4 cup of oatmeal, a container of yogurt and 1/2 a banana would be too much) and he wouldn't nurse when it was time. That made me super worried that he wasn't getting anything and then I realized that he just wasn't hungry. We've also added lunch and fruit with whatever veggie he's eating. These bottom pictures are from ground beef, carrots & sweet potatoes.
