She was cuddled up so sweetly on the couch and Oscar amazingly decided that the blanket was worth daring to get that close to Coralee. And of course, the big girl bed picture. That is one ZONKED out girl!

Of Potties and Big Girl Beds
I know it's shocking but I don't have any pictures to go with this. Wait, I may have to peak in the bed room for a picture. ;-) Oh dear me, what a day! We had lunch plans that had to be cancelled due to a pretty case of pink eye. So, we are officially at home for the day. So much so that I even let Ken drive my car! That's really staying home! I decided it was an excellent day to make another attempt at potty training. So, after she woke up, we put on panties and started the day. Probably 30 minutes or so later, she came to me and said "I not wear panties. I wear Pull Up." I asked her why and she said something to the effect of she wanted to go potty in the Pull Up. Insert "Ah-ha" moment for Mommy. Little girl - you are WAY too smart! So, I insisted that we weren't going to do that. Pull Ups weren't for tee tee and poo poo; they go in the potty! Somehow I lured her to the bathroom without too much of a fight. I'm pretty sure it was the promise of a "special treat surprise" (aka the cereal she picked out at the store) and books. She sat in our bathroom on the little potty, then on the big potty in the guest bathroom and finally on the big potty in our bathroom. Aunt C called and while I was talking to her and laying on the bed to take a break from the hard floor, Coralee pooped in the potty. Of course, she immediately flushed it so I had to wipe to see the proof. Sure enough, she did! Woohoo! We haven't had poo poo in the potty in a while. This entire process took about an hour but it was worth it!
Later we went upstairs to play and she started to tee tee on the floor but I caught her before she let loose and we made it to the bathroom with most of the tee tee going in the potty. Woohoo - more success! So, it gets to be nap time and she refuses to use the potty beforehand. After realizing that she was using the Pull Ups as a total crutch, I told her that she was wearing panties and that she needed to keep them dry. Anyway, I asked her why she wouldn't go potty and she said it was because she wasn't "having" (aka behaving). I don't think I say that much. If I think we're dealing with issues from the time change because she gave us a hard time last night going to bed and didn't want to go to sleep at nap today either.
I threatened her that I would spank if I had to come back upstairs and of course I did have to go back up and follow through. That used to be enough to get her to lay down and go to sleep but not any more. I'm okay with that, though. The second time I heard her I went up and we talked for a little while. She told me she wanted to sleep in her big girl bed. She wanted Daddy to "paink" her room - pink and blue. She wanted the ceiling blue and the ceiling fan to be painted green. Dear me! I told her we couldn't do that because we have company coming next week but that we'd get started on her room very soon. I promised that Daddy would take the side off of her crib and would make it a big girl bed. That didn't seem to soothe the savage beast so as a last ditch effort, I told her she could take a nap on the day bed in the office if she promised to stay in bed. Well, of course, the princess light up shoes were a little too much temptation and I wouldn't have realized she was still awake except that she turned off the monitor so the one downstairs was beeping like crazy. I went back up, told her to go to sleep and she did. Woohoo! She did wake up very wet although I don't think it was all that recent because it was pretty cold. Poor girlie.
I wrote all of that earlier this afternoon. Here's the rest of the story........
I am happy to report that Ken has now made her crib into a big girl bed and she seems really happy with that. I just hope we don't have a fight when we move her to the day bed for good. No more potty progress to report other than dry panties from nap until after dinner. She tee teed in the bath tub again, though. Stubborn little thing! And I got ONE picture of her sleeping. She looks like Cousin It with that crazy hair.

Daddy's Little Helper
Coralee played outside with Daddy while he cleaned up the yard. She had a blast! She thought it was too much fun to get into the lawn bags. She did do more than play with them, though. She actually helped fill one with leaves. What a good girl! She also performed her original songs "Fly Like a Birdy" and "Sunshine".

Caterpillar Picnic
After we were finished at the garden, we went across the street to Zilker for our picnic. I had read the idea a year or so ago using this book. You were supposed to make kabobs essentially with the objects..... one apple slice, 2 pear slices, 3 plums, 4 strawberries, 5 orange slices...... you get the picture. She loved the picnic. The funniest thing was that she balked at the idea of the salami. After I ate a few bites, she decided maybe it wasn't so bad and ended up eating the rest of the salami. Woohoo for eating meat.... nasty meat but meat nonetheless!
Zilker Botanical Garden
Zilker Kite Festival
We went to the festival with some friends from church. As always, it was a ton of fun. Coralee wasn't so sure about Ean & Teffany's dogs since they are so big but she immediately grabbed the leashes for Russell & Stephanie's chihuhuas. She LOVED giving them treats and tempting them with chips. Oh dear! She did great flying her kite; it was the perfect size and she was able to fly it all by herself.

Potty Training in Less than a Day
Yeah right! I've been thinking that Coralee has been at least close to ready to use the potty but thought that it was just my fault for not working with her on it. So, we set out with a "Baby Alive" doll, tons of snacks, juice (a VERY special treat), a box of toys, and of course M & Ms. She stayed very dry most of the day and the "dolly" was very well trained. However, she didn't pee pee in the potty once. She did learn how to put on and take off her panties which is a good thing to know. Although, as you can see, that is not always flawless. By the afternoon, she continued to pee pee on the floor more times than I care to count. Ugh! Here we are 3 weeks later and still haven't "made it". Last week I took a break and we just used Pull Ups. The previous week she had peed in my shoes (not out of meanness but it just happened) and then pitched a very nasty fit worthy of Nanny 911 at TJ Maxx (after poo pooing in her Pull Up). I NEEDED the break! :-)
