Father's Day for Real

Coralee and I made breakfast for Daddy..... donuts (made from refrigerator biscuits), eggs with cheese and orange juice with mango. We had a great day including lunch with friends at Fujiyama. Lincoln had his first piece of sushi which he loved. I did make Ken eat the raw fish. Lincoln usually doesn't eat when we go to lunch after church but he was very entertained by the chef cooking in front of us and he ate great. We all took a nap at home and then had dinner at Catfish Parlour. We have a tradition of going there for Father's Day and have been each year since I was pregnant with Coralee. They are usually closed on Sundays except for Father's Day, Mother's Day and Valentines if it happens to be on a Sunday. What says love like fried food? They always give away a gift and this year it was a koozie. Previous years have included a fishing lure key chain and an auto repair kit aka duct tape. Ken was hoping for another roll of duct tape since his from 5 years ago is almost gone. Lincoln enjoyed looking at all of the "stuff" on the walls and really enjoyed the hushpuppies. Coralee enjoyed making her own Caesar salad.
Early Father's Day

To celebrate Father's Day, we took a little family trip to Georgetown the day before. We had breakfast at the Monument Cafe and got a great surprise. The Williamson County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo parade was that morning. Lauramae needed to eat when we got there so it was a little awkward sitting in the van feeding her while people found their spots on the side of the road. So much for modesty! We got to watch the parade from the comfort of our seat inside the restaurant. Lauramae spit up all over both of us which was a little stinky. We stopped at Old Navy to exchange some jeans I had bought for Ken and to take advantage of their sale on tank tops.... can't beat $2 a piece. I bought myself another shirt so I didn't have to smell like spit up as we walked through the cave at Inner Space. The last time Ken and I were there together, we were there with our friends the Higgins. One of their girls cried the whole way down on the cable car. Once we got into the cave, someone else on the tour complained and we were asked to leave. I was a little worried that we might repeat that experience but the kids did great. Lincoln even ended up falling asleep on the way out of the cave.
More Barbie Doll pictures

So, I kind of lied when I posted the other day. She's closer to 12 lbs which means she is seriously close to outgrowing the 0-3 month clothes. I have to at least have pictures of how cute she was in her "little" clothes. The cherry outfit is a 3-6 month outfits and the little sister onesie is a newborn. I had to stuff her into that because she had spit up all over her gown and I didn't want to go upstairs to get more clothes and chance waking up Lincoln.
VBS Family Night

We really enjoyed family night! Coralee was so excited to be able to go up on stage... even though she didn't really know the songs. To go along with the theme of the Boomerang Express, they had a juggler/boomerang thrower that talked about how to have a relationship with Christ. Lincoln was in awe.... he just sat in the stroller and stared. It was too cute. Afterwards, we went and looked at Coralee's room and said hi to her teachers. Then, it was time to go outside for hot dogs and jumpers.

My Birthday

The past few years my birthday has been during the week and at least one of those years I was pregnant and very cranky. It seemed like Coralee was especially difficult and last year I swore we wouldn't be having a normal day at home on my birthday this year. I was thinking of a little mini vacation but little miss Lauramae changed that idea since Ken didn't have extra time off. It took me way too long to decide on what I wanted to do but I finally decided on a trip to the Witte Museum in San Antonio. I'd seen the tree house from the train for the zoo and it seemed like a good combination of inside and outside fun. I wanted to go to Sea World but knew it would be super crowded and the high was supposed to be 100. For whatever reason, Lauramae didn't sleep as well the night before and to top off the potential for a stinky birthday, Lincoln woke up wheezing. He sounded awful but I was determined we weren't going to the doctor. We gave him some albuterol and headed out. The kids enjoyed the museum and I enjoyed fun family stuff and then lunch at Cheesy Jane's. We stopped by the outlet mall on the way back home and I spent some of my birthday money. A very good day for sure.
Ken's Birthday

We celebrated Ken's birthday with lunch at Threadgills. We sat in the dining car and thankfully didn't disturb anyone's meal this time (remember that, Teresa?). I'm a lot paranoid about rude people who have no patience for kids being loud. They were really good and other than Lincoln begging for his sister's mac & cheese it was a pleasant meal. Ken thought it would be better if he had something else instead of spreading cheese all over Daddy. You can't stop the mac & cheese, though.... at least not without screaming. Don't you love the cute way Lincoln "helps" Ken with the carrier? Just had to have a picture of that. He's such a great big brother! For dinner, we went to some friends for a class get together. I don't like to make a big deal about Ken's birthday because it draws attention to me, too. Anyway, Coralee was under the impression that we were there for Daddy's birthday and told everyone it was Daddy's day. It was really cute. The drive back home was rather scary since there was a bad thunderstorm coming through. Ken had been outside with the kids and thankfully didn't tell me that the sky looked "green". We drove home in rain and hail and turned on the TV. Let's just say I'm thankful I was clueless about how bad the weather was!
