Thanksgiving Dinner

Ken & Keegan took the kids to the park to play before dinner and I made Coralee wear pants - mean Mommy! Anyway, when they got back, Adelynne changed into her dress and of course Coralee needed a dress, too. She's been waiting for weeks to wear this Christmas dress and I was surprised by how pretty she looked in the gold. She had to finish the outfit with dress up shoes, too.

Peruvian Oscar

We had talked about how Oscar could wear Lincoln's sweater since he'd outgrown it. Chrissy took a picture of Lincoln in the too small sweater to send to Jeff and then we decided to send a picture of Oscar, too. Doesn't he look dapper?

Cousins

Coralee thoroughly enjoyed having everyone visit for Thanksgiving. She's still talking about how when she's 4, she'll see her cousins again. They played so well together it was so cute! They all slept in Coralee's room, too. The only problem was Coralee getting out of bed to talk to Adelynne. Belian zonked out pretty quickly!

Two Months Old

My intent was to post this yesterday since it was his actual 2 month birthday but it didn't happen. I can't believe it's been 2 months already although this second month seemed to go by more quickly than the first. He's been sleeping longer between feedings at night and is still napping like a champ.... and there was much rejoicing! The truth about him sleeping longer at night is that he has been sleeping in our closet for almost a week now. Last Friday, I was trying to go back to sleep after his 4:00 or 5:00 AM feeding and he was grunting so much that I couldn't go back to sleep. Plus, when I'd wake up hearing him at 2:00 or so and attempt to feed him he wouldn't eat well. I'm guessing that was because he wasn't all that hungry. So, I decided he was going in the closet and we've had 6 hours between feedings since then. Plus, we're more on a schedule that starts at 7:00 AM and the last feeding is around 10:00 PM. I'll just say - sleep is good! He's also started smiling a lot more lately. On Sunday at church I fed him a bottle thinking I wouldn't have to leave the room to go feed him but he makes so much noise with the bottle that I still had to leave. As I was feeding him, he would stop in the middle of eating and smile. Too sweet! I'm loving the more interactive baby stage. Oh and the bottom pictures are how I found him this morning. He's sleeping in the bouncy seat since he's still fighting a cold and we're trying to keep him more upright. He scoots down in it and obviously got loose from his swaddle this morning. I thought it was funny to see his little legs hanging out the bottom with a very squishy diaper.

Feeding brother

I went shopping with some friends and Ken took care of the kiddos for me. So, Coralee had the chance to feed Lincoln a bottle - doesn't she look like a pro? I was telling someone the other day that I'm glad we had a girl first because I don't know if a boy would be that into his baby brother/sister. Of course I also feel sorry for Lincoln since he'll have two bossy flossy Mommas attempting to make him behave.

Biscuit Brothers Concert

Ken met us at Central Market for dinner beforehand so we got an awesome seat. We've been there for another concert but she wanted to play the entire time. This time she listened to the music and danced around and we've watched last week's Biscuit Brothers episode twice since we got home last night. Lincoln wasn't all that impressed.... he just slept through the whole thing.

Just a Swinging

I was working on cleaning up the closet in the office while Ken worked on the caulk. Coralee was entertaining a sleeping Lincoln in his swing by reading books. And yes, big sister gave him his horse.

Daddy's Helper

Don't look too closely in the bathroom pictures but we have had a problem with the caulk getting icky. So, Saturday morning Ken and Coralee went to Lowe's for supplies. The only oops about that is that he accidentally bought clear caulk so it doesn't look quite right yet. Coralee had to "help" of course during the process.

Bath Time

I thought I'd be smart and try to bathe them at the same time last Wednesday night while Ken was at church. It wasn't the best idea ever because his tub kept sliding into the big tub with the weight of the water. Oops. Needless to say he wasn't too thrilled about the whole thing.

A Walk to the Park

We had walked down to the school to vote the night before and I thought it would probably be a good idea for me to get back in a routine of walking again. Okay, that hasn't happened yet but the intent is there. I keep saying when Lincoln sleeps through the night I'll get up earlier like I used to since that worked well. Anyway, we walked to the park. I carried Lincoln in the Mei Tai and Coralee held my hand. We had some lady stop and ask us if we needed a ride. That was weird - a) I wouldn't take a ride from a stranger (my Mommy taught me better) and b) I wouldn't put my kids in a car without a carseat. Very, very odd but she was older so maybe she didn't think of those things. Other than that we had an uneventful trip to the park. Still it kind of freaked me out since I said something about going to the park. As usual, no one was there. I was relieved when I saw a man pull up and get out with his metal detector - how pitiful is that? Woohoo we weren't alone! Coralee snagged the camera and took a whole bunch of pictures. The one I posted looks pretty centered.... she's improving her picture taking skills.

Oh and the hat is her souvenir from Aunt C's trip to Peru. Too cute although she thinks you need to tie the strings.

Take a Picture of Us

We hear that request a lot here at our house! It seems like every morning she wants to hold her brother and have a picture taken. So sweet! What a great big sister! Of course, who knows how many times I've said that we needed to take a picture of the two of them. I'm sure that's where she gets it from. Oh, how I love digital pictures!!!!

A New Carrier

Okay, yes I am obsessed with making baby carriers. With Coralee, I made ring slings and those are pretty great. I'm holding Lincoln and typing at the same time right now because of a ring sling. For Lincoln, I saw the pouch slings and decided to give those a try. They are more comfortable in my opinion than the ring slings and infinitely easier to make. That would be why Coralee has two of them for her baby dolls. I usually use the pouch sling at church. Anyway, I was missing one type from my collection - a Mei Tai and here it is. It reminds me of a Baby Bjorn but I like that it has the pretty fabric. I have to brag on that good deal - $4/yard upholstry fabric from Hobby Lobby! So, I paid $8 plus the thread ($2) and used some fleece leftover from another project for the padding. Lincoln is a big fan so far but this one works best if you aren't going to sit down. His legs get scrunched too much that way. Today the three of us walked to the park and back and Lincoln rode in the carrier the whole way. What could be better than adding a little weight when you exercise. I wore the ring sling down to the school so we could vote yesterday and told Ken I felt like I was pregnant again carrying the extra weight.

Matching once again

I'm telling you, I don't do this intentionally. I promise! I had decided Lincoln needed to wear these adorable overalls that I found for $2 or 3 at Walmart this summer. We have to pick out clothes on Saturday night or it's just too stressful on Sunday morning before church. So, I brought two outfits for Coralee to choose from and she chose this one. Coincidentally it matched. Ken got a kick out of the fact that Coralee's camo had roses in it. We joked that Lincoln should wear his boots since rifle season started this weekend (oh dear me, hope I have that right).

Oh, and check out the hair. I had to bribe her to let me do it but it was worth it. I love playing with her hair but don't get to do it all that often. Mommy can only handle a pony tail so often without getting bored.

Bed time routine

We started reading books with Lincoln after his bath. Somehow his best sleep is in the early evening so why not start now with a routine early in the evening? Of course, he usually wakes up crying and we hold him while he's sleeping - can't spoil him yet, can we?

A Visit from Dee & Na Na

Coralee was beyond thrilled that Dee & Na Na were coming to see her this weekend. They got here earlier than we expected so we were all in our jammies still. We were just glad to have the extra time with them. I had thawed a bottle the day before but didn't use it so Coralee got her first chance to feed Lincoln a bottle but quickly passed off that duty when they got here. She loved having them visit. I excused myself to take a shower and overheard her say in the monitor, "Na Na, do you like shoes?" as they were going upstairs to Coralee's room. Ken had prompted her about that the night before telling Coralee that Na Na would appreciate Coralee's dress up shoe collection. They read books upstairs in Coralee's closet and as you can see, Coralee had Dee trace her foot on the Magnadoodle and had him play Cariboo as well. Tell me that 80+ year old men should be laying on the floor - THAT is love I tell you! Coralee picked up the camera and started taking pictures of her own. Good thing for digital. This picture of Lincoln was pretty sweet, though, so I decided to post it. We had lunch with them and not too much later, they left to go back home so we could all get a nap. They brought Coralee a beautiful, fancy dress for Christmas (although we'll be taking the fur collar off and wearing it to church this Sunday) and an adorable vest/dress pant/dress shirt for Lincoln. SO adorable! He still has a bit to go before he fits into his but so far it's looking like an adorable choice for baby dedication (whenever we decide to do that).
