New Bath Toys

Lincoln thinks the faucet is tasty and I think that's gross. The rubber ducky wasn't keeping his attention but he really liked the stacking cups from his Easter basket. Apparently, they're really yummy. He was quite upset with me for taking it away, though.

All Done

What's the green stuff in the back yard? Wow! It looks great!

Work in Progress

The goals for the day were to put the raised beds in for the garden and the sod. The sod didn't come until we were having dessert. We were expecting it either the night before or that morning so it was a bit of a surprise when the truck pulled up to the house at 5:40. Paw Paw helped Ken quickly put the sod in and there was enough to give the neighbor a little bit and replace all of the Bermuda in the front yard with St. Augustine.
We planted 6 tomatoes, 2 kinds of bell peppers (yellow & purple), a mild jalapeno, eggplant, yellow squash, spaghetti squash, strawberries, cucumber, cantaloupe, cilantro, Italian parsley, two kinds of basil, rosemary & thyme. I hope they all do well. Ken would be happy if only the tomatoes & herbs made it. He's not so sure about the squash.
I am thrilled with the end result. I felt like we were on one of those shows on HGTV since the yard looks so drastically different. We've had some great rain to really help the new plants and grass grow well. The weather couldn't have been nicer and I even made it through a weekend without a sunburn.

The Back Yard - Before-ish

This is the halfway mark I guess since the play area had the mulch. While Ken & Coralee were at church I put down the tar paper to keep the weeds away. When he got home (with a pit stop at Home Depot), I had him check my work and I put the mulch out while he got Coralee to bed. It was a pretty instant improvement but wait, there's more.....

Daddy Daughter Date Night/Mommy & Lincoln's Night In

Ken took Coralee to the Men's Ministry Motorcycle Night

for a BBQ dinner while Link & I stayed home. Poor little guy needed to sleep more than I needed to go. Coralee let me get her gussied up in her pillow case dress (oops, a shirt now) and jeans.

Hang On

We've had a rough week this week. Lincoln hasn't been napping well and it seems like as soon as I get started on something that he needs to be awake. Oh, and he needs to be held, too. I put him in the bouncy seat for a little bit in hopes that he would be entertained with the toys. Well, he wasn't happy but I thought it was hilarious how he had grabbed on to the toys. Look at those eyes.... doesn't he look exhausted? Poor sleepy boy!

Mmmm.... Mangoes

Lincoln is not patient waiting for his dinner. There is lots of crying until he gets a bite and don't even think about taking a break - keep shovelling it! He wasn't sure about the mango at first but is definitely a fan now.

Mr. Mark

Ken says I should post more stuff like I did yesterday. Here's our breakfast discussion...

Coralee: Mr. Mark gave me an ice cream sandwich, can I have it after lunch?

Me: Sure

Coralee: Mr. Mark and Noah (his dog) are old.

Me: How do you know they're old?

Coralee: That's how God made them.

Well, then, if you insist.

Conversation in the car.....

on the way home from the evil box store Walmart while listening to Rush Limbaugh on Earth Day no less (I may be kicked out of my Prius for that ;-) )....

They break to a commercial and Coralee says: "Mommy, that was Rush Limbaugh."

Me: "Yes it was. What was he talking about?"

Coralee: "The Democrats."

Me: "Are the Democrats good or bad?"

Coralee: "Bad"

Me: "Why?"

Coralee: "They just are."

Me: "What about the Republicans?"

Coralee: "They're good."

Me: "Why?"

Coralee: "They're the Mommies & Daddies."

Her logic is a little flawed but I thought it was too funny. Awww..... my little Rush Baby. Nanny would be so proud.

Cameron Park Zoo

Since we were driving through Waco, we had to stop at the zoo. It's by far my favorite zoo ever. We have really good memories of a trip there 2 years ago on the way to Dallas and then last year with the the Shannon, Colston, Hudson, Jaime & Jacob.
