It's a BOY!

Wednesday we had the "big" sonogram. The nurse took a look first and said she thought it was a boy. As she looked some more, she thought maybe a girl. Then Dr. Seeker came in and his first comment was ??????, then he thought it was a boy, and then definitely a boy. He said that he was 100% sure but after all that flip-flopping, I was a little wary until I got out the still pictures. I have no doubt that we're having a boy after looking at that!

It took a little while to get over the initial shock because I really thought we were having a little girl. Okay, I really wanted to be able to use all those adorable clothes again. I cried a little when we got in bed that night. I just wanted Coralee to have a sister. The shock is wearing off and I'm getting excited. Shopping has definitely helped that!

While I can definitely see that it's fun to not know what you're having until the baby is born, I think for me it's essential. I guess you can't possibly be upset when you see your child and it isn't who you thought it would be. Still, I think I needed to know so I could deal with the different expectations. Plus, it's neat to think about who he will be. I feel like I know him better already. As if the constant battery on my bladder didn't do a little bit of that. :-)

I think we've pretty much decided on a name. For some reason, we've always had a hard time with boy names. And, as Ken told Coralee on the way to this appointment she really has the "A" name. We just felt like that was such a great name. It seems like boy names have been "taken" over the years as well. We've decided on Lincoln Edward. Lincoln was my great grandfather's name (on my maternal grandmother's side) and Edward was my Daddy's name. I just couldn't name a little boy "Edward"; it's too big of a name for a little boy.

Some people name their kiddos based on the meaning but for me, I love the heritage that comes with a family name. I loved hearing stories about Lincoln Witten. During elementary school, my Aunt Mary compiled several books of letters from family members from back in the 1800s. One of the stories I enjoyed was about Lincoln during the Civil War. He felt strongly about not taking arms against his country while his brothers went to fight for the Confederacy. He walked to Missouri to join the Union army and acted like he was crazy and looking for his mule whenever he encountered other travellers. In a way, that's funny but what I admire about that story was his commitment to what he believed. In the end, he was the only brother who survived the Civil War.

Okay, that's enough serious stuff. Hopefully we'll eventually scan the u/s pictures and let everyone see our little one's private parts. :-)

Biscuit Brothers Show

Ken went to a NASCAR race with guys from church so Coralee and I jumped on the chance to have some fun that day. We went to hear the Biscuit Brothers live and in person at Central Market. Coralee didn't spend a lot of time watching them but played on the playground instead. She had a great time. We ate dinner there and of course the pager made a great phone.

Coralee in her big girl bed

We moved Coralee into her big bed on a Tuesday but I didn't take any pictures until Saturday. She's doing okay with it although bed time has been later and wake up time is earlier. She does love her princess sheets and is anxious to have her room "painked" pink and blue.

More pictures from Mimi's

We almost forgot to hunt the eggs

and had already changed Coralee into her jammies..... the only warm thing we had. Next time I'll look at the forecast!

Easter at Mimi & Paw Paw's

Easter at Grandma & Grandpa's

Coralee had fun getting her Easter baskets. The funny thing about Easter was that it was so cool that we had to buy a sweater, tights and closed toe shoes.

Finished Eggs

The egg kit came with stickers.... jewels and princesses. She had a blast putting on the finishing touches.

Voila..... Chocolate Easter Bunny '07

Easter Bunny Cake

Well, I let go of control with the bunny cake. We divided up the colors but didn't have an elaborate scheme. Actually, we did the "bam" method and threw M & Ms on the bow tie. It was so funny! Coralee did the ears and accidentally put her hands in the icing. Of course, she licked her hand along with the rest of the M & Ms. Lots of love in those ears!

Easter Eggs

This was Coralee's first time to dye eggs and it was SO much fun. She did really well with them other than plunking the eggs down hard and cracking a few in the mugs. It was a lot less messy than I had thought. Oh, and I was glad I "splurged" on the $3 Princess egg dye because it worked so well.

A fit over an apron

For whatever reason, Coralee did not want to wear an apron to dye Easter eggs. She cried and ran away and refused to have her picture taken. Think she needed a nap?
