All Dressed Up for Aunt C

Chrissy has commented on how she really likes little boys all dressed up. So, since she was coming into town, Lincoln had to wear his khakis, dress shirt & sweater vest. So cute if I do say so myself. His little pants were too loose but they were so cute we weren't changing.

Ice Skating

NI had a family day at Chaparral Ice. There was skating, face painting, balloons, jumpers and an Ice Bats game to end the day. We got there not too long after things started and immediately got on our skates. Ken was quite happy to have the job of holding Lincoln since he doesn't skate. I had been nervous about busting it all week. Thankfully we were able to get one of trainer thingies which made life infinitely easier. We skated around the rink maybe twice before they had to bring out the Zamboni. We went out again and made a round or two before she managed to bust it. After that she cried and didn't want to skate any more. I think she thought she'd just get out there and be able to skate like the princesses on ice but that wasn't the case. After the big fall, we went outside to the jumpers which was a lot easier. We watched a little bit of Ice Age in the Movie Room, watched the other skaters for a bit and then got a snack. We sat next to the rink with our snack and it was SO cold. Ken fed Lincoln his bottle so he was out of his carrier and blanket. He sent me to the bathroom to change him and I'm telling you, that poor little guy's lips were blue. After that we got the sling, covered him with an extra blanket and went outside . He was much warmer then. Poor little guy. We stayed for the first period of the hockey game. Coralee was concerned about the guys going into time out and repeated Ken's comment about how it was a rough game.

A Loooong Night Gown & Cars Jammies

I got it in my head that we had to go to IKEA and the outlet mall one Friday. So, we braved really yucky, wet & cold weather. I found Coralee a long nightgown (very important) and some Cars Jammies for Lincoln at the Disney store. That was the extent of our shopping spree but she's so happy with the purchase that it was definitely worth it.

I think we have a tummy sleeper

I know I've been silent for a while. Last week, our lap top's hard drive had to be replaced. Fun, fun,

fun! Anyway, Lincoln was having a hard time going to sleep one evening and was super fussy so I put him on his belly and he went right to sleep. I know you aren't supposed to have them sleep on their tummy but it seems to really help.

Coralee was definitely outnumbered! She was very helpful but wasn't too sure abut Erik messing with her stuff. It gave me a little taste of what life will be like when Lincoln is up and moving around. Can I just say that I'm glad that's a fairly slow process?

A New Bottle?

We have officially taken every goodie off of Lincoln's wreath from Aunt Tammy. I thought since he was having some bottle-taking issues that maybe a different version would work. So, since we had a bottle, we tried it. The nipple was a little too small for him so we're back to the Avents which are no longer a problem. I'm not sure why he decided he didn't want to take a bottle from Mimi & Paw Paw on our anniversary but he's taken them since then. I think we've offered them more frequently so it isn't as big of a deal. Who knows.

Dressed for Church

Coralee has on a new dress from Aunt Shelia. I can't pinpoint why this little outfit of Lincoln's is one of my favorites but it is. While we had some warm weather, I decided he needed to wear it. I just love the little baseball cap! This was also his first Sunday in the nursery at church.

Dueling vacuums

Coralee got her red vacuum for Christmas and she thinks it's so much fun to vacuum. She joined me in trying to clean up the needles from the Christmas tree. Are they really called needles if you have a fake tree?

Christmas Clean Up

Coralee loves setting things up. Whether it's stuffed animals (or her brother) under the blanket or her tea set, it's all fun for her. As we were packing up all the Christmas decorations, we sent her upstairs to get the things from her kitchen. One thing up there was a Christmas apron. I don't know exactly how she did it but she ended up throwing it into the wreath. She had a little freak out about it and said, "Daddy, are you tall?" She was a little worried it might be stuck there forever.

Lincoln Post Christmas

The first pictures of him all dressed up in his flannel best are from when we went to see Playhouse Disney. It was chilly that day and I was going to carry him in the sling instead of the carrier so I figured he needed to be dressed warmly. He doesn't look all that thrilled in the pictures. That was in his - oh no, something's attacking me phase and it's my own hands. Poor little guy!

Secondly, one of Coralee's favorite past times is loading her brother up with a ton of toys while he's on the play mat. It's either that or pretending she's Mary and he's baby Jesus. I can't say how many times I've told her to get the blanket off of him.

Thirdly, he's wearing one of the very few articles of clothing that we had with Coralee that was unisex. I bought that fleece gown thingie when we were trying to get pregnant with Coralee. I just needed a little hope item. Ken says it looks like Maggie's clothing on the Simpsons.

We forgot the camera..... again

You'd think that after forgetting the camera last year and since we had a few more days to prepare before we left that we'd make sure we had it. Ken even asked me at one point but I remembered I'd left it in the diaper bag from the day before. We had gone to see Playhouse Disney Live at the Erwin Center with our neighbors and since we didn't take pictures there or at lunch, I figured it would still be there. Well, Ken is awesome about putting things (especially the camera) back where they belong which is a talent I don't posess. He put the camera back on the charger and I didn't know it. So, needless to say there was a little tension when we got to Grandma & Grandpa's without a camera. I can assure you that pictures were taken but they probably won't be uploaded here. It's just our little secret Christmas back home. ;-)

Christmas Dinner

Our friend Carlos joined us for Christmas dinner. I've decided that doing the traditional meal for Christmas is too much work and way too much food for our little family especially since we usually leave the next day to go back home. So, I try to do something non-traditional. This year we had a fancy salad, salmon, mashed sweet potatoes, asparagus, rolls and chocolate cake.

Christmas Morning

Coralee woke up a tiny bit early than her usual. I think it was 7:20 which was good considering how excited she was. She was very happy with her Santa gifts - a red vacuum and an iron & ironing board. The cutest thing was how excited she was about Lincoln's little fabric blocks. She said, "Look, Lincoln got the little town of Bethlehem!". I guess the semi-circle piece looked like a dome. It took us 2 hours to get through opening gifts. I wonder if we'll have that slow of a Christmas morning as the years go by. Coralee would play with her toys (and Lincoln's) as she opened them. For breakfast we had pancakes & apple butter bacon (yummo). I also think we have established a breakfast beverage . I don't remember the name but it's orange juice concentrate, milk, ice and a little powdered sugar..... reminded me of Orange Julius. As you can see in our family picture, I forgot to take the ribbon off of my head... oops. We made "kid coffee" for Coralee which was a tiny, tiny bit of coffee with a good bit of warm milk and a little flavored creamer. She enjoyed it and all I could think of was my cousin's kids making their own "kid coffee". You definitely know you're from Louisiana when that happens. ;-)
